This is a depressing tale of loneliness in a society where making noise is not socially acceptable. In the US I see many older people who are living comfortable but lonely lives. When we age we need to go back to our skills from youth so that we can create new relationships that allow us to be psychologically and socially healthy.

We often live separate from our parents. It’s a sign of wealth and advancement, but it has profound effects on the people we care most deeply about.
