Specialty-trained VMAs handle administrative tasks ranging from prescription refill and referrals to insurance and chart preparation, as well as gathering initial patient information, scheduling patient visits, and communicating patient concerns and needs to the family physician.
Healthcare specialty-trained staff support gastroenterologists from patient intake, scheduling of nonsurgical procedures for examining or testing the patient, compiling medical records, and other administrative work. The VMAs advise patients on how to prepare for procedures with a strong emphasis on patient care.
