Content marketing has always been an integral part of promoting things online. A lot of articles have been written to highlight its importance in fostering customer engagement. Yet providing quality, relevant, and up-to-date content is not the easiest of tasks.

Producing enough content is already a challenge. Oftentimes you find yourself staring at your monitor for hours without knowing how and where to start. Making your content engaging is another struggle. Here are some tips to help you in your content marketing efforts.

How things worked before

Keyword stuffing, a black-hat online marketing practice of filling their content with a lot of keywords for the purpose of getting a higher ranking, was a prevalent practice in the past. Online marketers used keywords in their blog postings to the point that it sacrificed the quality of content just to allure search engines. This strategy no longer works nowadays.

For the past year, Google has been very strict with its page ranking criteria with the roll-out of Panda and Penguin algorithms. These updates have continually given importance to quality and relevant content for websites.

Doing it the right way may not produce immediate results but will definitely pay dividends in the long run. If you write something that gives value to people, there’s a great chance that they stay on your website and look at the other pages. If you are lucky, they may even share your posts on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, and other social media sites giving you a much wider audience reach and higher page visibility.

Valuable content can spread like wildfire, and this is what search engines are after to make your website rank better. Suffice it to say, you should think of the quality more than the quantity of your content.

Go Visual

If you find it hard to explain things in writing, try to present them visually. Visuals such as videos and infographics greatly enhance your content and make it more interesting to your readers. It adds flavor and dimension to your posts or blogs.

People want to see things online, not just read. By integrating videos and images, people will appreciate the things you want to present and see the facts you want to point out easily. It also adds character to your page.

For better presentation and page appearance, make sure that your content, including the visuals, is readable on both smartphones and tablets.

Try Content Curation

Content marketing should not only be limited to your website. It should also be integrated into your social media profiles. You can use Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn as venues to post links to your blogs and help bring visitors to your website.

In cases when you still have not prepared a series of blog postings, why not try doing some content curation. For some, content curation merely involves presenting a list of links leading to other websites and pages which appears to be counterproductive. The rationale doesn’t just end there, however.

Content curation calls for you to provide value to your audience by searching for content that provides useful insights and establish its relevance and applicability. This means that you need to summarize what you read and add your own take and perspective while taking into account your familiarity of your audience’s needs and interests.

Reliably directing your audience to quality content will ultimately help you in building your brand by establishing your company as a trusted resource and thought leader in your industry.

Content marketing may be overwhelming at times, but by applying some touch of creativity and resourcefulness, things are really not as hard as you think.
